Best Practice Network practitioners have developed ways of improving children's health and wellbeing by using the outside environment. Building upon Scandinavian methods as well as drawing on local research they have developed creative approaches that recognise the importance of movement to aid the development of young children.
From splashing in muddy puddles to pouring water down drainpipes, children learn by "doing" and so develop healthily, emotionally and physically. A child who has the opportunity to run, roll, jump and balance, clap a rhythm, dance or sing an action song can learn about numbers, letters, literature, social relationships and different cultures and much, much more without ever having to sit at a table.
Best Practice Network works across England and our practitioners run workshops that demonstrate how early years professionals have led and supported their colleagues to introduce best practice in using outdoor environments and movement across the curriculum to enhance children's intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development.
This programme is for early years practitioners who want to make the best use of their outdoor environment to support children's learning and development.
This is a one-day face-to-face training session. The training methods include presentations, sharing good practice, discussion, reflection and group activity.
The training can be delivered as an open course at £175 + VAT per participant or £1,295 + VAT for 8-10 attendees within your own setting.
Contact our early years team for details of our open courses or to arrange your own in-house programme.
