

Best Practice Network has been delivering the programme since its inception and we have developed a strong team of expert trainers who are able to provide preparation to candidates in many areas across the South East, South West, West Midlands, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber regions. Our programmes are flexible and can be contextualised to meet the particular needs of each group. The locations, dates/times of all our training sessions are selected to minimise travel and take into account other possible commitments of our candidates.
Gaining HLTA status is a recognised progression route for school support staff. HLTAs work closely with teachers to raise standards and help each learner reach their potential.
91% of senior leaders (including headteachers, deputy and assistant headteachers) and 80% of HLTAs believe that they have made a positive contribution to pupil performance.

Research by NFER in 2007 reported many benefits, including the rise in confidence and self esteem of those gaining the status headlines from the report were that 91% of senior leaders and 80% of HLTAs (who responded to an open ended question) identified positive impacts on pupil performance resulting from the HLTA role. 73% of senior leaders said that HLTA had reduced teacher workload.
HLTA Preparation consists of three one-day sessions, during which candidates are prepared for the assessment visit and learn how they can demonstrate that they already meeting all of the HLTA professional standards through writing up assessment tasks.
The cost of the BPN three day HLTA preparation programme is £375 + VAT, inclusive of lunch and refreshments. Significant discounts are available to clusters of schools and local authorities interested in discussing bespoke programmes to meet individual need.
The cost of preparation does not include the assessment element. The current situation is that the Teaching Agency are committed to funding the assessment of any individual who is assessed before the 12th of September 2012.
