ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills

The Certificate builds on the leadership and management skills gained in the Award through a choice of additional units covering a variety of leadership and management topics. (Please note participants are not required to undertake the Award as a prerequisite and may join the Certificate directly). From ‘Developing the manager as a critical thinker’ to ‘Making professional presentations’ the Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills can be tailored to meet the varying needs of participants across all employment sectors.

Who is this for: 

The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills will benefit those who have a wide span of control and influence on budget/strategy decisions and who are also engaged in project leadership.

There are no formal entry requirements but participants will normally be either practising or aspiring middle managers with opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme.

How is it assessed: 

To obtain the ILM Certificate candidates must:

  • Attend all four workshops
  • Complete two pieces of written work each between 2,250 to 3,500 words
  • Complete a number of optional units with to a credit value of 11
How is it delivered: 

Candidates must complete two mandatory units; a work based assignment ‘Understanding the management role’ and a reflective review ‘Assessing your own leadership capability and performance’. Candidates are also required to complete a number of optional units. Depending on the units selected, these will be a choice of: work-based assignments, reflective reviews, oral presentations or written reports.

The programme is delivered as:

  • 4 face to face workshops.
  • Online module.
  • Online Discussion Forum.
  • Tutorial Support.

Each workshop will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Lunch will be provided on each day and refreshments made available on arrival and during mid-morning and afternoon breaks.
