Move on Up

Who is this for:

This three day programme is for school support staff who want to move towards further qualifications, a professional status and/or a promoted post. The programme creates opportunities for participants to develop their confidence in their own skills and abilities and to identify development opportunities. Whilst many participants will be support staff considering progression to higher level teaching assistant status, it will also be of great benefit to any member of support staff including office staff who may be considering progression to the national CSBM programme.

What are the benefits:

The programme is personalised to address participants' backgrounds, experience and needs. It reflects the specific local issues and challenges facing support staff and provides first step opportunities for developing leadership and management capability. It will support participants to:

  • Identify their strengths and development needs
  • Build confidence in interview situations
  • Develop presentation skills
  • Write reflectively about their everyday work
  • Use the language of professional standards and competencies
  • There will also be opportunities for feedback and individual support and guidance.
How is it delivered:

The course is delivered as three whole day sessions spread over two academic terms. In between the face-to-face days, participants will apply their learning back in school. They will have the opportunity to visit other settings, and undertake independent reading and study. Further support is provided through online activities.

What does it cost:

The cost of the three day programme is £375+vat per person including lunch and refreshments. Significant discounts are available to schools and LAs booking on behalf of a group of participants.
