HLTA Revised Standards Update Training
Who is it for?
HLTAs who were assessed against the 2003 standards.
Why do they need an update?
- HLTAs are becoming increasingly involved in performance management/appraisal activities, either for their own professional development, or as line manager to other support staff. Targets may well be linked directly or indirectly to the revised 2007 standards.
- Many HLTAs support other HLTA candidates on preparation and training programmes, either formally as mentor, or informally as a friend or colleague. A good, clear understanding of the revised standards is vital in these circumstances.
- An opportunity for HLTAs to meet with each other and to gain additional knowledge and understanding, relevant to a progressing profession, may be viewed as an important element of continual professional development
What does the update training consist of?
Face to face session and online activities covering
- The aims of the revision process
- An exploration of similarities and differences
- Discussion of key features and links to Every Child Matters
- Analysis of key standards relevant to mentoring/managing other TAs/HLTAs
- Identification of potential areas for personal development
How is the update training recognised?
HLTAs will receive a certificate, supplied by BPN, to acknowledge attendance at face to face session and successful completion of online activities.
How is the update training organised?
Face to face briefing sessions can be organised by LA or BPN for cohorts of 8 - 20 HLTAs. Participants will be given a username and password for access to the BPN online training resources and activities. They will then have up to 6 working weeks to successfully complete the activities which can be accessed from any internet linked computer.
What is the cost of the update training?
The cost of face to face briefing and online training is £75 per HLTA.
