Kelly McKay
Director, Early Career Framework
Kelly is guided by the principal that every person deserves the best possible education so that they have the skills, qualifications and confidence necessary to be successful in an ever-changing, competitive world. She has over 20 years experience in education from early years to FE, having worked in a wide range of roles, firstly as a teacher before moving onto headship and executive leadership across five academies. Kelly is delighted to be leading the Early Career Development Programme for Best Practice and is looking forward to making a positive difference to the teaching and learning across the education system.
She has been involved in a variety of projects with different stakeholders, including the DfE, local authorities, academy trusts and businesses to plan and lead change which has resulted in rapid, sustainable improvement. She has created and delivered training programmes in outstanding teaching, school improvement and leadership development and was successful in applying to the British Council to lead international research visits for senior leaders to Sweden and Norway. Kelly enjoys spending time with her family, especially walking their dog through the forest and watching her son play football.
