Why learn with a colleague or friend?

  • Regular Check-ins: Scheduling regular updates with your learning partner ensures you're always on track. It's like having a personal coach who keeps you focused and on schedule.
  • Boost Your Commitment: When you share your goals with someone you respect, you're not just accountable to yourself, but to someone who believes in you. It's harder to let them down than it is to let yourself down
  • Stay Motivated: Knowing that someone else is counting on you can be a powerful motivator. You'll push harder, strive further, because you want to impress or match up to the expectations of your training buddy.

"Accountability is not just about taking responsibility for your actions but also about committing to someone else's success as they commit to yours."

Simon Sinek, Leadership Expert

The Power of Accountability

  • You’re More Committed: Sharing your journey with someone can make your goals feel more real and urgent.
  • You’re More Motivated: The prospect of being evaluated by someone you value can significantly amplify your effort.
  • You’re More Likely to Check In: Regular accountability meetings ensure you make consistent progress, not just sporadic bursts.

Finding a Buddy

The best study buddy is someone who enhances your learning experience, keeps you motivated, and shares your commitment to success.

Most study buddies will come from the same school or setting, but other times study buddies are peers from the same school group such as a MAT, diocese or Teaching School Hub.

Put a shout out on your school intranet to find out if anyone else would like to complete the same programme as you. If there is interest the buddy on up, partner!
