The job role
An Early Years Practitioner (EYP) delivers the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum across a range of Early Years settings. These may include full day care, children’s centres, playgroups, pre schools, nursery schools, reception classes and home based provision.
The apprenticeship
The Early Years Practitioner Level 2 apprenticeship is a work based programme completed over 12 to 14 months. It can be funded through the Apprenticeship Levy or co funded by your employer and the Government. You will build hands on experience in your setting whilst working towards your qualification through off the job training. You will also earn at least the Apprenticeship Minimum Wage throughout the programme.

I decided to do an Early Years Practitioner Level 2 apprenticeship because I like to work hands on and learn as I go, and that’s what an apprenticeship does for you. I feel I take it in better this way, rather than only learning the theory.
