What are the benefits?
The Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO) is an unassessed support package aimed at headteachers who are in their first five years of headship.
Participants will receive 1-2-1 coaching from a leadership coach who will help to address and overcome challenges, set new goals and prompt reflection on how to develop leadership skills. Our leadership coaches are experienced and well placed to offer insights into early headship.

Who is it for?
The Early Headship Coaching Offer is a programme for headteachers within the first 5 years of their headship.
The programme is available for all new eligible headteachers regardless of phase or context.
Please note: the programme is not suitable for deputy headteachers, assistant headteachers or acting headteachers.
How is the programme delivered?
Coaching:
- Five 1:1 coaching sessions
- Three one and a half hour expert-led group coaching/mentoring sessions
Access to:
- Peer Network Discussion Boards
- Core Business Podcasts
- An online library of research materials, recordings and podcasts
You will be eligible for the Early Headship Coaching Offer for New Headteachers if you meet the following criteria:
- You are in your first 5 years of headship
- You are employed in a state-funded school, or are employed in a state-funded organisation that offers 16 to 19 places in England upon starting the training
- You have either completed a National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) before taking up your first headship post or are currently taking the NPQH
- You have not withdrawn from the programme previously
The Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO) costs £800 plus VAT if applicable.
Scholarship
The programme is free providing you meet the following criteria:
- You are in your first 5 years of headship
- You are employed in a state-funded school, or are employed in a state-funded organisation that offers 16 to 19 places in England upon starting the training
- You have either completed a National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) before taking up your first headship post or are currently taking the NPQH
- You have not withdrawn from the programme previously
