What is the Headteacher Programme?

The Headteacher Programme is a dual award which has mapped the DfE's flagship NPQ for Headship (NPQH) to the Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship. This combination means learners concurrently earn two highly prestigious qualifications

Benefits include:

  • Enhanced Leadership Training: Gain access to extended leadership training that goes beyond the standard NPQH curriculum, ensuring you are well-prepared for any challenge.
  • Expert Support & Coaching: Benefit from additional support and coaching from seasoned tutors and coaches, providing you with personalised guidance and insights.
  • Collaborative Learning Experience: Participate in the same Face-to-Face events as your peers in the standalone NPQH, fostering collaboration and networking opportunities.
  • Wraparound Apprenticeship Benefits: Enjoy the comprehensive support of an apprenticeship, including structured learning and practical, hands-on experience.

NPQ Master's Fast-Track

The Headteacher Programme with NPQH is already delivered at master’s level and now, thanks to our partnership with the University of Chester, that work is formally recognised.

You will gain 120 credits towards a full MA in Educational Leadership, with the option to complete the final 60-credit dissertation module online, supported by University of Chester tutors. The cost? Just £3,210, a fraction of the standard £9,630 master’s fee.

And because most of the learning takes place within the Headteacher Programme, very little additional study is needed. It’s a straightforward, affordable route to a full Master’s degree—with high-level leadership development at its core.

Start with 120 credits. Add 60 credits. Graduate with a Master’s for just £3,210.
