Review of COBIS Conference 2022

Review of COBIS Conference 2022

We managed to catch up with Jamie Ganley, Head of International Sales at BPN and OLP. Jamie recently attended the Annual COBIS conference and managed to find time out of his busy schedule to give us a brief overview of the event and his own personal highlights.

Jamie's Thoughts on the conference

I had a fantastic time at the 40th COBIS conference which was held for the first time in person since 2019. The event saw over 550 in-person and virtual participants!  It was great to see some of our partner schools at the event, as well as connecting to a range of other representatives from British International Schools all over the World. You really are not able to beat that opportunity to meet in person.

There were some excellent guest speakers that I was fortunate enough to witness through the 2 days. This included the most amazing story from Anna Azarova, PR Manager at The British International School Ukraine. She really brought into context how the Ukrainian/Russian war has dramatic effects for the whole of Europe (and its Education system). If you have time I would thoroughly recommend reading her story.

Some other highlight seminars I attended were:

  • Tom Sherrington - The Power of Professional Learning Cultures
  • Nick McKie - How to Create a Coaching Culture in your School; Learning Talk
  • ISC Research - The International School Market Data that Matters
  • Murray MacKenzie - Developments, trends and insights in the International Education Sector
  • Emma Hollis - International QTS; Opportunities for British International Schools to Support Development of High-Quality Teachers

Thank you again to Colin Bell and the whole COBIS team for running such a great event. It was the first time attending the event but certainly wont be my last.
