Level 5 Leadership Qualification
Level 5 Leadership Qualification
Whatever your role in education, you will know just how important good leadership is for the staff, children and families within a school or setting community. The impact of good leadership runs throughout an organisation - in the general ethos as well as the detail. Good leadership ensures that schools and settings are places where high quality learning and development, well-being and safety enable children to thrive. Staff also need to have training and support to flourish in their work and, of course, leadership and management of Early Years provision is a core part of Ofsted inspections.
Some people believe that effective leaders have a natural gift, that leadership is something you are born with. At Best Practice Network we believe that most people can learn to lead well - if they have the interest, self-awareness and know-how.
Our Level 5 Leadership Qualification is designed to do just this. It is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and leads to their Award in Leadership and, importantly, it can be tailored to individuals’ needs. The interactive programme includes:
- developing self-awareness as a leader - current leadership skills/roles and potential
- understanding how leadership supports a setting’s vision, goals and performance
- learning about leadership styles and how they can be used
- understanding key skills and qualities of effective communication for leaders
- understanding what is involved in leading and motivating teams and individuals
- developing coaching and mentoring skills to support others to achieve
- developing presentation skills
- developing skills and confidence to motivate and build commitment in those you lead
- creating an action plan for your leadership work
The programme has been designed to be achievable for busy members of staff - you need to be in a leadership role or be supported to have a go at leading an area which will benefit your setting/school. The ILM award will be helpful to any application for further study, career development or promotion. It will show that you have achieved a Level 5 Award in Leadership and achieved six credits within the National Qualification and Credit Framework.
Feedback tells us that this is a high valued programme:
Developing confidence was also important:
The programme lasts for five months and includes two and a half face to face days as well as tutorial support for your written assignment (approximately 2,500 words long). We have a programme running in Wolverhampton starting on Dec 4th and more running across the country in the spring.
