Seeing Early Years Apprenticeships in Action: Nursery Visit

Seeing Early Years Apprenticeships in Action: Nursery Visit

Recently, the Best Practice Network team had the pleasure of visiting two Kido Nursery settings, Golders Green and Crouch End. It was a wonderful experience that really bought our Early Years apprenticeship programmes to life.

Steven and Hunter from our marketing team, alongside Eve from our partnership team, spent the day meeting with apprentices, managers and nursery staff to learn more about their journeys and to see first-hand how apprenticeships are making a real difference in Early Years settings.

From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the welcoming atmosphere at both nurseries. The environments were vibrant, nurturing and designed with young children in mind. It was clear that Kido Nursery places a strong emphasis on quality care and education - values that closely align with our own at Best Practice Network.

One of the highlights of the visits was seeing apprentices confidently putting their learning into practice. Whether supporting children with activities, engaging in play-based learning or working closely with colleagues, the apprentices demonstrated both professionalism and passion. Speaking directly with them through interviews, we heard how the apprenticeship programmes have helped them grow in confidence, develop essential skills and build meaningful careers in Early Years education.

"The support you get and the things you learn along the way is absolutely amazing - it's one of the best things I think anyone can do!" - Onjona, Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprentice.

Managers shared how the apprenticeships have had a positive impact not only on individual learners, but on the nursery teams as a whole. Apprentices bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to learning, all while contributing to the daily care and development of young children. Several managers highlighted how the structured support of the apprenticeship programme helps nurture talent and create clear progression pathways within their settings.

"I've been working in apprenticeships for over 20 years and I know what quality delivery looks like and what it doesn't. I can hand on heart say that Best Practice Network are an absolutely fantastic training provider." - Sophie Hayter, Qualification Lead.

What
also stood out was the impact on the children themselves. Apprentices play a vital role in creating safe, stimulating and caring environments where children can thrive. Through their dedication and training, they help support children’s early development, laying strong foundations for future learning and wellbeing. It was inspiring to see how the knowledge gained through apprenticeships directly translates into positive outcomes for young learners.

For our team, the visits were a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. At Best Practice Network, we are passionate about supporting apprentices and employers to achieve excellence and seeing the real-world impact of our programmes at Kido reinforced the value of high-quality apprenticeship training

We would like to thank the teams at Kido Nursery in Golders Green and Crouch End for their warm welcome and openness during our visits. It was a pleasure to meet such dedicated professionals and inspiring apprentices, and we look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting the next generation of Early Years educators.
